JOB OPPORTUNITY - Archaeologist/Project Manager with SWCA Environmental Consultants

Location: Guam

Job Description: SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking to fill the position of a self-motivated, creative, and highly organized Archaeologist/Project Manager. This regular salaried position is located in SWCA`s Guam office, and will report to the SWCA Senior Archaeologist on Guam. The position will entail the conduct of cultural resource investigations; assisting the Senior Archaeologist with project coordination and quality control, and expanding SWCA's professional reputation in archaeological and historical consulting and research. This will include supervision of fieldwork and responsibility for report writing.

Responsibilities: Overall responsibilities include participation in preparation of proposals, research designs, and management plans; supervision of archaeological field crews; conducting archaeological fieldwork; managing project schedules and budgets; preparing technical reports; compliance with all SWCA health and safety procedures; and working closely with the SWCA Senior Archaeologist and other staff members to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in archaeology with at least five (5) years supervisory and field experience. Pacific islands experience in preferred. The candidate must have demonstrated exception verbal and written communication skills, a record of completing technical reports in a timely fashion, and ability to coordinate and supervise field personnel and resources within time and budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate must have the ability to prioritize and successfully support multiple concurrent projects and reporting deadlines, be flexible with changing work priorities, and work with minimal supervision. Experience with and knowledge of contracts and professional consulting is preferred. The selected candidate must have a demonstrated track record of working productively within a multi-organizational team, including SWCA staff, teaming partners, clients, and government officials.

The candidate must be proficient with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Experience in the use of statistical and database management program is preferred. Knowledge and experience with geographic information systems software (GIS/GPS) Bilingual capability in East Asian and/or Pacific island languages is a plus.

The successful applicant must have current eligibility to work in the United States, and must either already reside on Guam or be willing to relocate to Guam.
